A Brief History, Part 5 [Magic Theory, Pt. 14]

The Lendrii, led by Durien (one of the original apprentices), worked to cultivate the forest around them, making it stronger while harvesting large amounts of magical energy. They stockpiled large quantities of charms, in preparation for battle. Many of these charms were made from weapons and armours, so that the Lendrii could cast spells while fighting.

Sandren, The Healer’s widower, opposed Durien’s plan. He believed The Healer’s vision to be peaceful, healing, not deadly. She did not fight when Choryl struck her down, and Durien believed this was an example of how they should all act. Many agreed, separating themselves from the Lendrii. Led by Sandren, they called themselves the Sh’al, meaning “Healers,” in honor of their fallen namesake.

The Sh’al agreed to aid the Lendrii, but only as healers and farmers, not as fighters. They forged charms and gave aid to those who needed it, while the Lendrii prepared for war.
